In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the terms outlined in the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle in Caversham
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Caversham, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other requirements stated in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made directly through our website, by phone, or in person at our Caversham office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The full payment and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle collection. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to confirm the state of the vehicle. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when you picked it up; additional refueling charges will apply for vehicles returned with less fuel. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur extra fees. You will also be responsible for any parking violations, traffic fines, or other charges incurred during your rental period, in addition to an administration fee.

Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial liability. It is wise to review these options thoroughly. You will be responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or any violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges, impacting your overall rental experience.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Driving a vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, off-roading, or any other risky behavior. Transporting hazardous materials or subletting the vehicle to unauthorized individuals is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Adhering to the vehicle's designed purpose, passenger limits, and agreed geographical boundaries is mandatory.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Caversham will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
